MAPAN District Report

March 4, 2017

District Education:

Our district meeting was held on February 7, at Lone Star Steak House, where 12 members celebrated PANAW week with a meal together. Dinner was largely provided by MAPAN, and members donated $10 toward their meal.

Community Service:

MAPAN members collected hats, gloves, and socks for the Veteran’s Restorative Quarters in Asheville, NC at our November meeting and were delivered to the Veteran’s on PANAW week.


Members were reminded to submit clinical articles and any newsworthy announcements to Adam for publication.

Nurse of the Year:

Discussion around nominations for nurse of the year and members were encouraged to nominate worthy recipients.

Research or Best Practice Studies:

Reminded members to forward any research studies being conducted in hospitals/clinics to Jennifer White.  The Epic Research project data at Pardee is currently being tallied.


Mission Hospital held a Perianesthesia Certification Review on February 18, 2017, presented by Denise O’Brien.  A total of 77 nurses were in attendance.

MAPAN will be holding a Self Care Conference, Finding Personal and Professional Harmony, on April 15, 2017 at Pardee Hospital.    Speakers will discuss acupressure, acupuncture, Reiki therapy, Healing touch, Power Yoga, Nutrition, and Aroma therapy. CE’s will be offered and pending approval.

Next meeting will be May 8, 2017 at 6:30 pm, at Pardee Hospital.
